Rev 17:18

18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the

earth.

REVELATION 17 OPENS WITH AN INVITATION FROM JOHN TO THE READERS OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION,TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS THAT IS POSED BY THIS WOMAN TO BOTH CIVIL AND RELIGIOUS LIBERTY , THAT WAS PURCHASED AT SUCH GREAT A COST BY THE BLOODS OF OUR FALLEN MEN AND WOMEN IN THE ARMED SERVICES OF THESE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

In Revelation 17:1 The Woman is a great Whore, which means she is unfaithful to Christ the Groom, and therefore has multi- partners, committing fornication with leaders of the earth, citing v-2. Whenever the feminine gender is alluded to in the prophecies of the Bible, and especially the book of Revelation, it is referring to a church, whether an unfaithful church as is in Revelation 17, or a faithful church in chapter 12.

THE THEME OF A WOMAN USED TO SYMBOLIZED A CHURCH, FAITHFUL OR UNFAITHFUL. IS CONSISTENT WITH THE SCRIPTURES. Here are a few examples: (1) Rev 19:7-8

7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

(2) Isa 54:6

6 For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

(3) Jer 6:2

2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

UNFAITHFUL WOMAN-(CHURCH): Isa 47:5

5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.

PLEASE NOTICE HOW THE PROPHET ISAIAH, AND THE PROPHET JOHN THE REVELATOR COLLABORATED, IN IDENTIFYING THE MODE OF OPERATION OF THIS WOMAN (CHURCH): #1 IN ISAIAH 47:5 THE PROPHET calls this woman, daughter of the Chaldeans(Babylon) The Lady of Kingdoms. #2 THE PROPHET JOHN IN THE REVELATION, calls the same Babylonian woman, A GREAT CITY , WHICH REIGNS OVER THE KINGS OF THE EARTH.

Kings of the Earth is a relative phrase and is not just restricted to Monarchial type of rulership alone, but any form of leadership, and this Church City would seek to impose its will directly or indirectly on any form of leadership whether secular or religious. It is marvelous before our eyes, that two prophets writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, centuries apart from each other, identify this Church City as being the Vatican who dictates policies to Kings, Queens, Emperors, Sultan, Presidents and Prime Ministers etc.

HISTORY TEACHES VERY IMPORTANT LESSONS, LETS FIND OUT:

The Christian Historian C. Mervyn Maxwell, in his book: “ God Cares, volume 1, page-131” remarked: In 1076 A.D Pope Gregory V11 informed the subjects of Henry 1V emperor of Germany, the most powerful monarch in Europe at the time, that if Henry would not repent of his sins, they would not need to obey him. Henry was frightened by the Edict, and made a pilgrimage to Canossa in the Alps, where the pope was residing, and waited three painful days, barefooted in the snow until Pope Gregory forgave him.

Taking his cue from Gregory V11, Pope Pius V in 1570, in the bull (or decree) “ Regans in Excelsis”( “He who reigns in the heavens”) declared that the Protestant queen of England, Elizabeth1 (1558-1603),was an accursed heretic who hereafter should have no right to rule and whose citizens were all, by papal authority, forbidden to obey her. It did not work.

Instead it solidified Elizabeth’s reign, and both Catholics and Protestants rallied around their queen. In 1825, Pope Leo xii minted a Jubilee Medal with the inscription in Latin, “ SEDET SUPER UNIVERSUM” which means,

“ THE WHOLE EARTH IS HER SEAT”. And on the reverse side of this medal, is a Woman with a cup in her hand, as was prophesied by the prophet John in verse-4 of Revelation 17: It reads; “ And the Woman was arrayed in purple, and scarlet colour, and decked with precious stones and pearls, having a GOLDEN CUP IN HER HAND full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication.”

The Woman(The Church) is sitting on many waters in verse-1 , which the angel interpreted in verse-15 as peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. In verse-3, she sits on a red colored beast, which represents the State and their leaders, which the angel interpreted in verse-2 as the kings of the earth committing spiritual fornication with her, meaning, instead of being loyal to the citizens of their respective countries, their first loyalty is to this Church- City. I leave with you the words of Jesus recorded by John the Apostle, who also wrote the Book of Revelation: John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
