CRISIS ON THE PLAIN OF DURA by Pastor James Wright

June 29, 2026 by webadmin Leave a Comment

Daniel 3:1-6 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

2 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

3 Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

4 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,

5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:

6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

Note: THE FORCED OR LEGISLATIVE WORSHIP ON THE PLAIN OF DURA, RECORDED BY THE PROPHET DANIEL, IS A PIVITOL BIBICAL EVENT. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon erected a giant golden image, and directed that upon hearing a specific symphony of instruments, all should fall down and worship the golden image. Bowing down to an image or an idol is strictly forbidden in the Sacred Scriptures, given to Moses by God to be given to the people for instructions in righteousness. These instructions, called the Law or Ten Commandments, can be found in Exodus, and is still relevant and binding today on the entire human family. Here are they: Exodus 20: And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 (1) Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 (2) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the

earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 (3) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 (4) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 (5) Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 (6) Thou shalt not kill.

14 (7) Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 (8) Thou shalt not steal.

16 (9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 (10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon issued a death decree for anyone in violation of his command, to worship any other God than the god of Babylon, represented by the golden image. But there were three young men: Daniel 3:12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

When worship or religion is legislated by a government, it means that the citizens loose their right to freely worship God according to thedictates of their conscience, and the right to a peaceably assembly. The constitution of the United States of America forbids Congress from making law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

The phrase, “God Bless America” means, freedom of religion, press, peaceably assembly, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Any attempt by Government to proclaim a National Day of Worship, is entering on unchartered ground.
